Discover the new scene in De Vliegende Hollander
22 April 2025On Friday 18 April, the attraction reopened with a brand-new scene and a renewed gift shop: ’t Boeghbeeld. Take a look at the first images!

Efteling designer Karel Willemen created the new concept for the scene at the end of the covered section of the ride. Since the reopening, your sloop is swallowed by ghost ship De Vliegende Hollander. You find yourself inside a burning shipwreck, where smoke wraps around the swaying barrels and tattered curtains. It symbolises the wicked core of Willem van der Decken’s tormented soul. Only once your sloop makes its way back up, do you escape the ghost ship.

Gift shop ’t Boeghbeeld
After braving the curse of De Vliegende Hollander, you exit through the newly redesigned shop ’t Boeghbeeld. The shop resembles a woodcarver’s workshop by the harbour. The front has been widened, there’s a new canopy, and outside on the square, the new souvenirs are proudly displayed on wooden barrels.
Inside, a clever new layout has replaced the old counter, allowing more space for themed souvenirs like costumes, T-shirts and a unique attraction pin.

You can even personalise a logbook! The shop offers one self-service checkout and one manned till, where you can also purchase photo products. Tip: When you buy a Digi Photo Pass, you’ll receive a fun video of your ride along with the digital photo — perfect for sharing on social media!
